The No. 2-ranked University of Saskatchewan Huskies welcomed the UBC Thunderbirds to Griffith Stadium on Sept. 10 in the season’s home opener. Then they were pummelled senseless by the British Columbians.

Huskies dominate Dinos in season-opener
After allowing the University of Saskatchewan Huskies a touchdown on opening possession, the University of Calgary Dinos struggled to halt the Huskies’ eventual 34-13 victory in the rain at McMahon stadium on Sept. 4 in Calgary.

Though the Huskies’ regrettable finish in the 2009 Canada West final is likely still fresh in many players’ minds, the Dogs’ primary core has remained intact, again solidifying them as serious contenders for the approaching season.

Steroid scandal shocks university football
In an extensive doping scandal within Canadian university football, nine players of the University of Waterloo Warriors have either tested positive or are being investigated for the use of banned performance enhancing substances.

Green and White’s presence felt at CFL draft
The May 2 CFL draft selection of Huskies football players slotback Scott McHenry and defensive end Ivan Brown reiterates the effectiveness of the Green and White’s football program.
Despite a disappointing previous season for the Huskies, teammates of McHenry and Brown will surely find solace in the pair’s successful results at the annual CFL draft. Brown was selected 31st overall by the Montreal Alouettes and McHenry 32nd overall by the Calgary Stampeders, both in the fourth round.
