What I find troubling is that so long as a person, or in this case an entire news network, is able to convincingly maintain this position, they can speak freely under the guise of being The Messenger for the voice of the people. But the legitimacy of this position rests on perpetuating this false underdog image - nowhere will you ever read or hear of a right-wing pundit saying "we are fortunate to have such a considerable stake in news media" or "I am happy to say that the news now has a right-wing slant".
